Start with the result you need

Before comparing glass types, be clear about the issue the new windows need to solve. Standard double glazing is a sensible choice for many replacement sash window projects because it offers a meaningful improvement in warmth and comfort without changing the appearance of the window dramatically.

However, not every project needs the same build-up. A rental refurbishment may need a cost-effective, durable specification across several openings. A homeowner replacing front-facing sash windows on a noisy street may reasonably pay more for acoustic glass. Standard double glazing

Acoustic glazing

Noise reduction is not just about the glass. Gaps around a sash can undermine an expensive acoustic specification, so the window needs good perimeter seals and accurate fitting. Low-emissivity and solar-control glass
